Weekend haul from @eyesore_cinema, Def-Con 4 is not a great movie, but the cover is amazing. I remember seeing that in the shelf as a kid and marvelling at the sci-fi darkness. #vhs #vhscollector
A late and great night finishing up the Little East Coast with my pals @littlecanada. This new destination is open today! #hoscale #miniatures #miniatureart #eastcoast
I’m back at Little Canada for the month, helping with the final push to finish their East Coast destination that opens very soon. These buildings I designed and build are for the Halifax section, it was a lot of fun putting together the neon donair sign. @littlecanada #hoscale #halifax #pizzacorner #miniatureart #scalemodel
Great sticker haul from @toutoune.gallery highly recommend checking them out! #stickers #torontoartist
Happy Alien Day! I’ve been a huge fan of the Alien franchise since my dad showed me the movie when I was 12. Appreciate the commitment to production design to create an immersive and terrifying world. The adorable alien with the pink bow is by @yoyodynetoydivision and it is my most recent addition to the collection. I love the APC vehicle from Aliens, it’s unusual and plain wedge shape has always appealed to me. I have almost every official product release from the last 30 years, the bare metal one was made by Leading Edge Games in the early 90’s. Enjoy the day! #alienday #toycollection
Here’s the finished Schitt’s Creek diorama, we added all of the finishing touches on the weekend and then had a photoshoot. All buildings are designed and built by @487models, building painting by @aliyahcreates and scenery, details and interiors by yours truly @miniaturespencer. It’s been so fun putting this together and celebrating such a wonderful show @schittscreek #hoscale #diorama #schittscreek #miniatureart #mini #scalemodel #miniature
This weekend Kent and I finished up the Schitt’s Creek diorama and then we photographed it. One major project remained though, all of the details for Bob’s Garage. I spent most of my day prepping, painting and placing all of the fun little junk pieces. Luckily I have lots of items that have been waiting for a moment like this. What a fun location to recreate! @487models @schittscreek #hoscale #diorama #miniatureart #scalemodel #schittscreek #architecturalmodel #garage #setdressing
For the miniature Schitt’s Creek diorama, I decided to experiment with all forms of static grass. I find it very messy to add to existing scenery, it gets everywhere. That said, on a self contained scene with removable buildings it was easy to make the static grass look as interesting as possible and then vacuum up all the excess! I used a combination of static grass mat sheets and loose material. After the static grass was dry, I added small shrubs for more colour and texture. The hay bales were a kit, I liked how the static grass worked with the ruts I sculpted in the field. It catches the light just right. All buildings by @487models. @schittscreek #hoscale #staticgrass #diorama #miniatureart
With this stage, I put the creek in Schitt’s Creek! I used miniature gravel that is ground down from real rock, the colour and texture is perfect. I built up the creek bed using smaller gravel in the centre and larger on a banks to suggest depth. The culvert is 3D printed and I love that the creek actually goes completely under the road. Once I was happy with the creek bed, I taped off the ends to prep for the resin pour. A great tip is to paint white glue on the inside of the tape. It won’t show up once the resin has been poured and it helps prevent the resin from leaking. In the final photos I have added the giant gravel lot in front of the Rosebud Motel and some gravel on the shoulders of the roads. Gravel gravel gravel! @487models @schittscreek #hoscale #diorama #scalemodel #schittscreek #miniaturescenery #resin #scenery #miniatureart
The next stage of the Schitt’s Creek diorama was getting the roads in so the scenery could be worked out to the edges. Kent @487models cut them out of styrene, then I painted and installed them. I added Sculptamold, a plaster product that is kind of chunkier, like a tuna fish sandwich weight. The Sculptamold helps me define the creek bed, creates some minor hills and the road shoulders. We place the buildings to determine paths, driveways and other scenery details. @schittscreek #hoscale #wip #diorama #miniaturescenery #schittscreek #sculptamold
